Assad and Putin meet in Moscow

It has been reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad have met in Moscow.

The Kremlin announced that Putin and Assad held a meeting at the Kremlin Palace last night.

During the portion of the meeting open to the press, Putin stated that he and Assad had not met for a long time and that there were many issues on the agenda to discuss.

Pointing out that the situation in the region where Syria is located is developing negatively, Putin said, "As for our trade and economic relations, there are many issues here as well. There are also promising trends. I hope we will discuss this topic as well."

Assad also noted that Russia and Syria have gone through difficult processes from the past to the present, stating, "Considering the events taking place globally and in the Eurasian region today, our meeting today is very important in terms of discussing all the details and consulting on possible expectations and scenarios."
