Mohammad Hossein Ranjbaran, an advisor to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, announced in a statement on his social media account that an assassination attempt against Araghchi had been thwarted.

Ranjbaran stated that after it was announced that Araghchi would travel to Geneva, Switzerland, for nuclear negotiations with the foreign ministers of the UK, France, and Germany, many people reached out to him to share their concern, asking, "Will the Zionist regime target him?"

In his post, Ranjbaran said, "Yes, such a threat existed and still exists. However, Araghchi is not just a foreign minister; he also sees himself as a member of the homeland and, just like his beloved Qasem Soleimani, he desires martyrdom."

Emphasizing that the assassination attempt ended in failure, Ranjbaran said, "If it were not for the measures taken by our security forces, perhaps the major plot Israel planned in Tehran a few days ago would have been carried out.

Thank God, this attempt failed. In this inhumane world, let us pray for Araghchi and our country's other diplomats. May they be successful in defending Iran's rights," he stated.
