Assassination threat against Trump in the US: I will shoot you in the head

US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem announced that an irregular migrant who threatened to assassinate President Donald Trump has been captured and taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The ministry's written statement included Noem's remarks. Announcing that the individual, who stated in a threat letter that he would "shoot Trump in the head at a rally," has been caught, Noem said, "Thanks to our ICE officers, this irregular migrant who threatened to kill President Trump is now in jail."

Noem drew attention to the timing of the incident, noting that this threat came shortly before the anniversary of the assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania in July 2024.

Furthermore, stating that it was no coincidence that such an incident occurred only two weeks after allegations that former FBI Director James Comey had made a "call for assassination" against Trump, Noem said that politicians and media members must act more responsibly regarding the language they use.

As will be recalled, Donald Trump was subjected to an armed attack while speaking at a rally held in the Butler region of Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024. One person lost their life and two people were injured in the attack, while the US Secret Service announced that the attacker had been neutralized at the scene.

Former FBI Director James Comey had shared a photo of seashells arranged with the numbers "86 47" on his Instagram account in May, and this post was interpreted by the public as a call for the assassination of Trump. Following this post, which caused widespread repercussions, Trump had directly accused Comey:

“He knew exactly what that meant. Even a child would know what that means. If you are the FBI director and you don't know what that means, it means assassination.”
