The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has announced that a uranium processing facility was targeted during joint US and Israeli airstrikes against Iran.

In a statement issued by the organization, it was stated, "The uranium processing facility in the city of Ardakan, in Yazd province, was the target of attacks carried out by the US and Israel in the evening hours.

Initial assessments indicate that the incident did not lead to any radioactive leakage outside the facility.

Therefore, there is no risk to citizens or the surrounding areas," the statement read.

The facility in question is among the strategic sites where the production of uranium oxide, also known as "yellowcake"—the first processed form of uranium—takes place, and it constitutes the initial stage of Iran's nuclear fuel cycle.
