It has been noted that while the Armenian administration sends messages to the outside world that it is ready for peace, it is making active preparations for a new war against Azerbaijan. Following the clash on March 16, Azerbaijani media documented Armenia's armament activities along the border line with footage.
On Sunday, it was announced that units belonging to the Armenian Armed Forces opened fire on the positions of the Azerbaijani Army from their posts in the Gorus district. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense condemned the attack, arguing that Armenia is deliberately escalating tension at the border. In the footage published by Azerbaijani media, it was observed that Armenian positions were being fortified and preparations for an attack were being made.
According to the Azerbaijan-based Caliber Az, the Armenian government announced at a meeting held last week that reserve soldiers would be called up between April 1 and June 13. It was stated that the duration of military training has been extended to 10 weeks.
In a report by Azerbaijan's official state television, Az TV, it was alleged that the European Union's (EU) 'observer' mission in the region is providing indirect support to Armenia's military preparations. In the footage broadcast from the border line, it was determined that Armenia has built 10 new military positions on the Azerbaijani border. According to the claim, the positions were designed for offensive, not defensive, purposes.
It was alleged that EU observers are 'conducting intelligence activities' along the border and identifying sensitive points. The Azerbaijani press pointed out that these activities violate the institution's principles of neutrality.
ARMENIA IS ARMING ITSELF
Sources pointed out that Armenia has significantly increased its military spending over the last two years. Armenia has made billions of dollars in arms purchases from France and India.
Azerbaijani media stated that the Akash air defense missile systems purchased from India have the capacity to strike fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles, and cruise missiles with a range of 25 km. France, meanwhile, has supported Armenia with CAESAR artillery systems, anti-tank rockets, and air defense systems.
Caliber noted that the bridge built in the village of Harkop in Armenia's Lori region is nearing completion with the support of Greece. Experts underscored that this bridge is an important logistics point that will enable the rapid transfer of troops and military vehicles to the border region. According to Azerbaijani media, these preparations are being made to facilitate a surprise attack scenario.
