Biden announces: Will a ceasefire be reached in Gaza?

US President Joe Biden answered questions from journalists.

In response to a question about a ceasefire, Biden replied, "It's in the hands of Hamas right now. The Israelis are cooperating. There's been a rational offer. We'll know what's going to happen in a couple of days."

"WE NEED A CEASEFIRE"

Stating that "we need a ceasefire," Biden addressed the possibility of a truce before the month of Ramadan, saying, "There has to be a ceasefire. If we get to the point where it continues to Ramadan, it's going to be very, very dangerous. So we are working very, very hard to achieve a ceasefire."

The US President noted that they are working hard to deliver more aid to the Gaza Strip, where Palestinians are facing a serious risk of famine.

When asked about his relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Biden said, "It's like it's always been."

TALKS IN EGYPT CONCLUDED

Meanwhile, the two-day ceasefire talks in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, concluded without any progress. Hamas officials participating in the talks held Israel, which did not send a delegation to the negotiations, responsible for the failure to reach an agreement.

Israel had demanded as a precondition that Hamas provide a list of 40 elderly, sick, and female hostages to be released in the first phase as part of a six-week ceasefire and prisoner exchange process.

Hamas, on the other hand, is demanding that large-scale humanitarian aid be allowed into Gaza and that Palestinians displaced from their homes in the north of the coastal strip be permitted to return.
