Biden calls on Netanyahu for a ceasefire
U.S. President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during their meeting at the White House that the remaining gaps regarding a ceasefire in Gaza must be closed and the agreement finalized as soon as possible.

The White House issued a written statement regarding the meeting held between Biden and Netanyahu at the White House.
The statement noted that Biden and Netanyahu discussed the latest situation in Gaza, the ongoing ceasefire negotiation process, and issues related to the hostages in detail.
The statement included the following: "President Biden emphasized the necessity of closing the remaining gaps (regarding the ceasefire agreement in Gaza) and finalizing the deal as soon as possible, ensuring the return of the hostages, and reaching a lasting end to the war in Gaza."
The statement, which also conveyed that Biden "raised the humanitarian crisis in Gaza" during the meeting, noted that the U.S. President emphasized to Netanyahu that all obstacles to meeting the urgent basic needs of Palestinians must be removed.
It was also stated that Biden reiterated the U.S.'s "unwavering" commitment to Israel's security and sent a message of cooperation against regional "threats" such as Iran and Hezbollah.
