Scandalous statement from Biden: Ayşenur died by accident

US President Biden responded to a question about Eygi, who was killed by Israeli soldiers, as he was leaving the White House to head to New York.

When asked by a reporter for his comment on Israel's admission regarding the killing of Eygi, Biden stated that he had received more detailed information on the matter and remarked, "It appears that it was an accident, it ricocheted off the ground and she got hit by accident. I'm still working on that."

STATEMENT FROM THE PENTAGON

Responding to questions at the daily press briefing, US Department of Defense (Pentagon) Press Secretary Major General Patrick Ryder was asked by a reporter whether the killing of an American citizen by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank presented an opportunity to place stronger emphasis on the matter, taking into account aid provided to Israel. Ryder said that Secretary Lloyd Austin has "emphasized the importance of mitigating civilian harm" in his discussions with his Israeli counterpart since October 7.

Ryder replied, "We want to ensure that they are making that a critical element of their planning and operations. As it relates to the West Bank, as I mentioned, the Secretary has spoken to his Israeli counterpart about the importance of accounting for civilian safety and ensuring that actions taken do not inflame tensions and lead to a wider conflict."

Ryder stated that they would continue to encourage their Israeli counterparts to account for civilian safety, and claimed that the US Department of State continues to evaluate allegations that Israel has violated international humanitarian standards in the West Bank.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken had said in a statement on the matter in London, "Her killing was both unprovoked and unjustified. No one should be shot and killed for attending a protest."

In its statement regarding the killing of Eygi, the Israeli army claimed that Eygi may have been "killed unintentionally" as a result of fire opened by Israeli soldiers, and that the Israeli soldier who shot Eygi "intended to target another protester at the time."

It was reported that the results of the investigation conducted by the Israeli Military Police Criminal Investigation Division would be submitted to the Military Prosecution.

It was also noted that Israel had requested an autopsy on Eygi's body.

26-year-old Turkish-American citizen Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi lost her life after being shot in the head by an Israeli sniper during an anti-occupation protest held on September 6 in the town of Beita, near Nablus in the occupied West Bank.
