Biden speaks with Netanyahu: Reaffirms commitment

US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone. A written statement regarding the call was issued by the White House.

According to the statement, Biden reaffirmed to Netanyahu his commitment to Israel's security. During the call, they discussed ongoing negotiations regarding the release of hostages and the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza.

AID TO GAZA

Speaking on the issue of increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza, the two leaders also discussed the opening of new crossings for aid.

Biden emphasized that the "progress" in increasing humanitarian aid must be sustainable and that the process should be carried out in coordination with humanitarian aid organizations, while reiterating his position regarding an attack on Rafah.

Biden had previously expressed in his statements that they were opposed to a comprehensive attack on Rafah.
