AA, responding to a question from a correspondent, the US Department of State noted that it welcomes the latest step taken by Turkey regarding Sweden's NATO membership with great satisfaction.
F-16 STATEMENT
In the ministry's statement, it was noted, "President Biden has long maintained his clear support for the modernization of Turkey's F-16 fleet, which will enhance NATO's operational capability."
Noting that they welcome the approval of the proposal regarding Sweden's NATO membership by the TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee, the US Department of State also stated that they cannot make statements or comments regarding such foreign military sales processes until an official notification is made to Congress regarding the F-16 sale to Ankara.
The Bill on the Approval of the Ratification of the Protocol on the Accession of Sweden to NATO had been accepted by the TBMM Foreign Affairs Committee.
