According to a statement by the police, an explosive device left in front of a bar on Hohenzollernring Street detonated at 07:00 local time, and the area was subsequently closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic. German media reported that one person was injured in the incident and that numerous businesses sustained damage.
Eyewitnesses stated that they heard a loud explosion followed by a fire, which was later extinguished by fire crews. In a statement, the police announced that an operation had been launched at the scene and urged bystanders to stay away from the area.
