Borrell: 'Lebanon, Israel and the region cannot afford another war'

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Lebanese Foreign Minister Bou Habib met in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.

Borrell said in his statement, "I met with Lebanese Foreign Minister Bou Habib. We discussed how to ensure an immediate de-escalation along the Blue Line and how to strengthen efforts toward a political solution acceptable to all. Lebanon, Israel and the region cannot afford another war. The EU will also be affected by this. I reiterated the EU's strong support for Lebanon and the Lebanese people. The EU supports the Lebanese Armed Forces and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in maintaining peace and stability in Southern Lebanon."
