Brazil plans to retaliate against the US
Brazil's Minister of Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha, stated regarding the 25 percent customs duty imposed by US President Donald Trump on steel and aluminum imports: "If you tax Brazilian products, Brazil will retaliate by taxing products exported from the US."

Speaking to journalists, Padilha recalled the words of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, stating, "President Lula has always been very clear: 'Trade wars do not benefit anyone.'"
"Brazil is not entering and will not enter into any trade war," said Padilha, emphasizing that they would retaliate against the US, adding, "If you tax Brazilian products, Brazil will retaliate by taxing products exported from the US. It is that simple."
The American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil (AMCHAM), in a statement regarding the issue, pointed to the importance of trade between the two countries, stating, "We call for a negotiated solution to protect the bilateral trade that has been breaking records in recent years."
According to the national press, Brazil is known as the second-largest steel supplier to the US.
