Following the uprising that took place in the city of Raqqa in Syria in recent days, control of the city center has largely passed into the hands of the public and local tribes. Subsequently, a statement made by Syrian President Al-Shara indicated that an agreement had been reached with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a topic that has long been on the country's agenda.
With this agreement, it was announced that state authority over institutions in eastern Syria would be re-established. Al-Shara emphasized that this step, taken to overcome all issues, is important for the integrity of the country.
INTEGRATION INTO THE SYRIAN STATE
According to the agreement, all civilian institutions will first be integrated into the Syrian state. In addition, the government will fully take over the management of oil fields in the east. Regarding security, elements within the SDF will be attached to the Ministry of Defense one by one, following the necessary checks and the protection of the sensitivities of the Kurdish region in particular.
Furthermore, a presidential decree will be prepared for the appointment of a new governor for Al-Hasakah. Another important clause is the removal of heavy weapons from the Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) region and the establishment of a local security force under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior.
PKK TERRORIST ORGANIZATION MEMBERS TO BE REMOVED FROM SYRIA
Also according to the agreement, the Syrian government will henceforth assume the management of camps where families linked to ISIS are held and will be the approving authority for the appointment of candidates proposed to the state by the SDF. The SDF, for its part, has committed to the removal of members of the PKK terrorist organization from Syrian territory.
In addition, while the Syrian state's determination in the fight against ISIS was emphasized, negotiations are also continuing for the return of displaced persons to the Afrin and Sheikh Maqsood regions.
