Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced in a statement on his social media account that the intense diplomatic traffic conducted between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran has finally resulted in an agreement. The post stated that the parties have decided to permanently and immediately cease military activities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
In his announcement, Sharif included the following statements:
"Following intense negotiations, we are pleased to announce that a Peace Agreement has been reached between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Both parties have declared an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.
The official signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland on Friday, June 19.
We thank the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. We also extend our sincere thanks to the great leadership of our brotherly State of Qatar for their support in reaching this agreement during this mediation process. In addition, I would like to specifically thank the visionary leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Türkiye for their significant contributions to this process.
Following the conclusion of the agreement, the mediators will host a series of meetings this week. These meetings, to be held prior to implementation, will prepare the ground for technical negotiations and the official signing ceremony."
Before the peace agreement officially enters into force, important technical meetings will be held with representatives of the mediating countries. It was reported that many countries, primarily Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, contributed to the process and that various diplomatic meetings will be held in preparation for the signing ceremony.
At the ceremony to be held in Switzerland on June 19, the new peace roadmap established by the US and Iran is expected to be shared with the global public.
