While the announcement of a ceasefire was expected, Israel's far-right Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, announced his resignation due to the agreement.
According to a statement from their party, Israel's hardline Minister Ben-Gvir and two ministers from his nationalist-religious party resigned from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet due to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The Otzma Yehudit party is no longer part of the ruling coalition, but the party stated that they would not attempt to bring down the Netanyahu government.
Ben-Gvir had opposed a deal with Hamas from the very beginning.
NETANYAHU HAD DEMANDED A LIST
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Hamas had not yet shared the list of prisoners scheduled for release today and had used the phrase, "The ceasefire will not begin until this list is delivered."
A statement from Netanyahu's office indicated that the delay in the hostage list throughout the night was evaluated by the Israeli Security Cabinet. The ceasefire was planned to begin at 09:30 this morning. However, Netanyahu announced that the ceasefire was postponed for this reason, stating that Hamas had not delivered the promised hostage list.
REASON FOR DELAY: TECHNICAL ISSUE
Following Netanyahu's statement, Hamas reported that the delay was due to "technical reasons." The organization released a statement confirming that they were committed to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
According to the agreement, the names of the prisoners to be released must be provided at least 24 hours in advance. Hamas stated that this process was disrupted due to a technical issue.
The hostage exchange, which was planned to take place around 17:30 today, will proceed if the lists are delivered.
FIRST PHASE OF THE CEASEFIRE
In the first phase, which will last six weeks, Hamas will release a total of 33 Israeli prisoners, including children, female soldiers, civilians, and men over the age of 50.
In return, Israel will release 50 Palestinian prisoners for every female soldier and 30 Palestinian prisoners for every civilian hostage.
Furthermore, Israel has committed to releasing all women and children under the age of 19 who have been held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. In addition, Israel will allow the gradual return of unarmed Palestinians to northern Gaza and the entry of up to 600 trucks of humanitarian aid into the region daily.
SECOND PHASE
Hamas will release the remaining prisoners, most of whom are male soldiers, in exchange for the freedom of more Palestinians in Israeli prisons.
During this process, Israel will begin to withdraw completely from Gaza, including from the Philadelphi Corridor on the Egyptian border.
THIRD PHASE
If the obligations in the second phase are met, the remains of the remaining prisoners will be delivered. This will be carried out under international supervision and in exchange for a reconstruction plan that will last three to five years.

NETANYAHU HAD THREATENED
In a statement made after the cabinet meeting, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu claimed that he had received guarantees from US President Joe Biden and new President Trump regarding restarting the war.
