The Francis Scott Key Bridge, located in Baltimore, the largest city in the US state of Maryland, has collapsed after being struck by a cargo ship.
According to a report by the BBC, Chief Kevin Cartwright, director of communications for the Baltimore City Fire Department, stated that the collision with a "large vessel" caused the bridge to collapse into the Patapsco River.
The report also shared information that "seven people and numerous vehicles fell into the river."
The rescue operation is ongoing.
