Bulgaria's 'Schengen' measure: Additional precautions taken at the Turkish border
Ahead of Sofia's partial accession to the Schengen Area on March 31, the number of personnel on duty between Bulgaria and Turkey will triple.

According to the German news agency DPA, issues regarding illegal border crossings have led the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) to send an additional 500 officers to better manage the migration situation.
The situation was also confirmed by Frontex Executive Director Hans Leijtens.
Despite the 234-kilometer metal fence covering a large portion of Bulgaria's border with Turkey and measures taken on both sides, illegal crossings continue to occur.
AN 80 PERCENT DECREASE
However, Frontex Executive Director Hans Leijtens stated in a recent announcement that there has been an approximately 80 percent decrease in the number of attempts to illegally cross the Bulgaria-Turkey border compared to last year.
Leijtens' remarks came during his visit to Bulgaria, where he was accompanied by Bulgarian Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov.
