Bus carrying Pakistanis overturns in Iran: 28 dead, 23 injured
A bus carrying Pakistani nationals traveling through Iran toward Iraq to attend the Arbaeen ceremonies in the city of Karbala has overturned, resulting in 28 deaths and 23 injuries, 14 of which are reported to be critical.

According to reports from Iranian state television, a bus carrying Pakistani nationals overturned on the Dehshir-Taft highway in Yazd province.
As a result of the bus overturning, 28 Pakistani nationals lost their lives, while 23 others were injured, 14 of them critically.
Colonel Haji Dehabadi, the Highway Police Chief of Yazd province, stated that according to initial investigations by experts, the accident was caused by a malfunction in the vehicle's braking system.
It was reported that the 51 Pakistani nationals on the bus had entered Iran to attend the Arbaeen ceremonies in the Iraqi city of Karbala.
The martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Husayn ibn Ali, and his companions in the city of Karbala on October 10, 680 (10 Muharram 61 AH), is commemorated every year on the "Day of Ashura." The memorial events held 40 days after the Day of Ashura are called "Arbaeen" (The Fortieth Day) ceremonies. This year's Arbaeen events will take place on August 25.
