Busenaz Sürmeneli wins 3rd world championship title

At the Women's World Boxing Championships held in Serbia, national boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli defeated Uzbekistan's Navbakhor Khamidova in the women's 66kg final to reach her 3rd world championship title in her career.

In the 66kg final match of the championship held at the Cair Sports Center in the city of Niš, the number 1 seed Busenaz faced Navbakhor Khamidova from Uzbekistan.

Playing with clear superiority over her opponent in all three rounds, Busenaz won the match 5-0 to become world champion.

3RD CONSECUTIVE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

National boxer Busenaz Sürmeneli has managed to win a gold medal in each of the last 3 world championships she has participated in. The national boxer became world champion in 2025, following her titles in 2019 and 2022.

The 26-year-old national athlete, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, also holds one gold medal each from the European Championships, the European Games, and the Mediterranean Games.
