'Carcinogen in baby powder' claim
The US-based company Johnson & Johnson is being sued by more than 3,000 people in the UK over allegations that its baby powder contains asbestos, which poses a cancer risk.

According to reports in the British media, in the lawsuit filed by KP Law, Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue UK, which separated from the company in 2023, are accused of selling products between 1965 and 2023 that allegedly caused ovarian cancer and mesothelioma (lung lining cancer).
The plaintiffs have filed a lawsuit in the London High Court, claiming that the company knowingly sold asbestos-contaminated talcum powder and that this led to cancer.
According to the plaintiffs, Johnson & Johnson's baby powder contained carcinogenic fibers, including asbestos, and the company concealed this risk from consumers for decades.
Last week, the company was ordered to pay 966 million dollars to the family of a woman who died of mesothelioma in California. This was recorded as one of the highest compensation rulings ever issued against the company.
