The investigation into the deaths of famous actor Gene Hackman and his wife, pianist Betsy Arakawa, who were found dead in their home on February 27, has been completed. As a result of the examination of security cameras, it was determined that the couple passed away on February 11.
Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Heather Jarrell announced that Betsy Arakawa died due to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. This disease is transmitted through the urine, droppings, and saliva of rodents and begins with flu-like symptoms before rapidly becoming more serious.
Gene Hackman is estimated to have died on February 18, one week after his pacemaker recorded an abnormal rhythm.
Dr. Jarrell stated that the post-mortem examination of Hackman revealed signs of severe heart disease and significant changes in his kidneys.
Furthermore, it was stated that Hackman suffered from Alzheimer's disease, which contributed significantly to his death. It was also announced that the actor was not dehydrated, but there was no food in his stomach, indicating he had not eaten recently.
