Ceasefire reached between Syrian government and Druze

A ceasefire has been reached between the government and the Druze following renewed clashes in the Syrian city of As-Suwayda. In a statement issued by the Druze Community Association in As-Suwayda, it was announced that a ceasefire agreement had been signed with the Syrian government, stating, "The agreement, which includes the integration of the Druze-majority region into the Syrian state and the affirmation of its sovereignty, provides for the reactivation and restoration of all institutions in the region, while also advocating for the safeguarding of citizens' rights in accordance with laws of justice and equality."

The statement, which noted that the causes of the clashes in the region and the violations that occurred would be investigated, added, "A committee will be established to compensate the victims and redress the damage."

Syrian Minister of Information Hamza Mustafa said in a statement, "The state has the right to control its own territory, and the people of As-Suwayda are a fundamental pillar of the Syrian state that embraces all its components and are a part of this homeland. The Syrian government showed great flexibility in seeking a political solution, but the result was more provocation, broken promises, and the creation of a military situation, contrary to the state's efforts to avoid a military solution. The Syrian state was not in a weak position to resolve the As-Suwayda issue, which could have been solved in recent months; it asked the parties to agree on a common formula, but some gambled on foreign interference."

ISRAEL STRUCK DAMASCUS AND DARA'A

The Israeli army had carried out airstrikes in Syria, citing the clashes between government forces and the Druze in the city of As-Suwayda. Israel had conducted airstrikes on the area in the capital Damascus where the Presidential Palace is located, as well as the General Staff headquarters and the city of Dara'a. So far, 6 people have lost their lives and 18 people have been injured in the Israeli attacks.
