The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in an announcement today that it is deeply concerned about the escalation of tension and violence between Palestine and Israel. China called on the parties to exercise restraint and to immediately end hostilities to protect civilians.
"THE FUNDAMENTAL WAY TO PREVENT CONFLICT IS A TWO-STATE SOLUTION"
The statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "China is deeply concerned about the escalation of tension and violence between Palestine and Israel. We call on the relevant parties to remain calm, exercise restraint, immediately end hostilities to protect civilians, and prevent the situation from deteriorating further."
The statement pointed out that the resumption of conflicts shows that the long-stalled peace process cannot be sustained, and conveyed that the fundamental way to prevent conflicts lies in the implementation of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.
CALL FOR PEACE TALKS
The ministry's statement included the following: "The international community must act urgently, increase its contribution to the resolution of the Palestinian issue, facilitate the earliest possible resumption of peace talks between Palestine and Israel, and find a path toward lasting peace. China will continue to work tirelessly in this direction together with the international community."
