China hacked a UK Ministry of Defence system. Information was leaked
The British press reported that a system belonging to the UK Ministry of Defence was subjected to a cyberattack. Following the attack, the information of some armed forces personnel was leaked.

According to reports in the British press, a significant data breach occurred due to the hack, involving the personal information of active-duty military personnel.
Unauthorized access was gained to a payroll system containing the names and bank details of some current and former armed forces members, and the information was leaked.
Following the incident, the Ministry of Defence took immediate action and the system was taken offline while investigations continue. It is unknown what the obtained data might be used for.
The British government has not disclosed who is behind the attack.
Meanwhile, members of the UK Parliament will be briefed on the data breach concerning the Ministry of Defence and targeting service personnel.

The British television channel Sky News alleged that China was behind the cyberattack.
Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden stated in his speech to Parliament on March 25 that "actors linked to the Chinese state" were behind two separate malicious cyberattacks targeting both the UK's electoral watchdog and members of parliament.
