Following the suspension of US attacks on Iran, reports in the US press citing an unnamed Iranian official have alleged that contact has been established between the US and Iran, claiming that Iran has signaled its readiness to listen to "sustainable" proposals that would end the war.
The Iranian official stated, "In recent days, contact has been established between the US and Iran at the initiative of the US; however, this has not yet reached the level of full-scale negotiations. Messages have been conveyed through various intermediaries to gauge whether an agreement can be reached. The proposals being discussed aim not only to secure a ceasefire but to reach a concrete agreement that would end the conflict between the US and Iran."
Without addressing the contradictory statements from the US and Iran regarding negotiations, the official added, "Iran is not requesting a meeting or direct negotiations with the US, but if a sustainable agreement plan that protects Iran's national interests is brought to the table, it is prepared to listen."
The official stated that Iran is prepared to provide all necessary assurances that it will not develop nuclear weapons, emphasizing that the use of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes is Iran's right. The official also declared that any proposal must include the lifting of all sanctions against Iran.
