The US official expressed that the attack was not intended to escalate tensions, but rather to send a signal to Iran regarding the capabilities Israel possesses.
WHITE HOUSE REMAINED SILENT ON THE CLAIMS
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre evaluated the latest developments in the Middle East and the reports of Israel's recent attack on Iran during her daily press briefing.
The US spokesperson said, "I know you have questions about the latest developments in the Middle East, but we have no comment on these reports at this time."
Stating that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken also did not make a comment on the matter during the day but that they are monitoring the situation, Jean-Pierre emphasized that they do not want to see tensions rise in the Middle East.
BLINKEN: WE WERE NOT INVOLVED IN THE ATTACK
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Blinken, who is attending the G-7 Summit in Italy, limited his remarks regarding the reports of Israel's recent attack on Iran by stating, "I am not going to speak to that, but we were not involved in these attacks."
Noting that their focus is on resolving the crisis in Gaza and that they provide full support to Israel against Iran, Blinken also expressed their position regarding the situation in Rafah.
Blinken drew attention to the importance of ensuring the safety of the 1.4 million people still in Rafah, where Israel is reported to be preparing to attack.
Pointing out that steps must be taken regarding the safety of the Palestinians who have taken refuge in the city, Blinken said, "We cannot support a major military operation in Rafah."
CLAIMS THAT ISRAEL ATTACKED IRAN AND SYRIA
Iranian state television had announced that explosion sounds were heard in the northeast of Isfahan province, which hosts an Iranian Air Force base. The official Iranian news agency IRNA also noted that explosion sounds were heard in the northwest of Tabriz province.
American media, in reports published based on US officials, had reported that Israel carried out an attack against Iran.
While Israeli authorities refrained from commenting on the matter, Iranian officials have not yet directly blamed Israel.
On the other hand, in a report by the Syrian news agency SANA based on a military source, it was claimed that Israel carried out a missile attack on several points where air defense systems are located on the country's southern borders.
