Coal mine explosion in Iran: 52 workers lost their lives

The death toll is rising following a coal mine explosion in the city of Tabas, in Iran's South Khorasan province. The number of people who lost their lives in the explosion, which occurred due to a methane gas buildup in blocks B and C of the mine, has risen to 52.

According to a report on state television, all 22 workers who were trapped in block C lost their lives due to an increase in methane gas concentration during rescue efforts.

3-DAY MOURNING DECLARED

In a statement issued by the South Khorasan Governor's Office following the tragedy, condolences were extended to the families of those who lost their lives in the coal mine explosion. The statement announced that a 3-day mourning period has been declared in the province.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated on his social media account regarding the incident at the coal mine, "This accident has deeply affected us all. It is regrettable that such accidents continue to occur. As the Parliament, our priority is to identify those responsible and those who were negligent."
