While a part of the world merely watches Israel massacre thousands of civilians in the Gaza Strip, another part continues to react to this genocide.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced a new measure against Israel today. In his statement, Petro said, "We will suspend coal exports to Israel until the genocide stops."
According to government data, Colombia, the world's fifth-largest coal producer, exported a total of 56.7 million metric tons of coal abroad last year, 3 million tons of which went to Israel.
In April, Colombia applied to intervene in the case filed by the Republic of South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on charges of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Last month, Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that he would sever ties with Israel due to the conflict.
