According to reports in the official North Korean press, Kim conveyed his condolences to the Iranian government, the people of Iran, and the families of those who lost their lives in the crash in a message sent to First Vice President of Iran Mohammad Mokhber, emphasizing that Raisi's passing was "a great loss for the brotherly Iranian people and for the peoples of the world who pursue independence and justice."
Kim stated that Raisi was an "outstanding statesman and a close friend of the North Korean people" who made significant contributions to the cause of the Iranian people in protecting their country's sovereignty, interests, and the achievements of the Islamic Revolution.
