In Syria, a criminal court affiliated with the transitional Damascus administration established under the leadership of HTS has issued a death sentence for Waseem Assad, a cousin of the country's former president, Bashar al-Assad.

The ruling announced by the Fourth Criminal Court in Damascus stated that Waseem Assad was sentenced to death for "premeditated murder of multiple individuals," "torture," "crimes against humanity," and "war crimes."

The court also ordered the seizure of Waseem Assad's movable and immovable assets in favor of the public treasury.

It was previously reported that the same court in Syria had issued death sentences on August 11 for Bashar al-Assad, his brother Maher al-Assad, their cousins Atif Najib, and several other high-ranking figures.
