Death toll from earthquakes in Japan rises to 92
The number of people who lost their lives in the earthquakes that struck Ishikawa Prefecture in western Japan and the coast of the Noto Peninsula in the region has risen to 92.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), earthquakes ranging in magnitude from 4 to 7 occurred on the Noto Peninsula and off the coast of Ishikawa on January 1, 2, 3, and 4.
AFTERSHOCKS CONTINUE
Earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.4 at 00:04, 4 at 08:06, 4.1 at 09:27, and 4.2 at 09:39 local time were recorded in the peninsula region today. It was reported that aftershocks are continuing.
FATE OF MORE THAN 240 PEOPLE UNKNOWN
The Ishikawa Prefectural Government announced that 92 people have lost their lives in the earthquakes in the region and that more than 300 injured people are receiving treatment across the region. It was noted that more than 40 people are trapped under rubble across the region, and over 700 people are stranded in various locations due to blocked roads.
It was announced that partial damage was detected in 165 schools and facilities across the prefecture, and approximately 33,000 people are staying in 370 evacuation centers. A warning was issued that ongoing rainfall across the Noto Peninsula could trigger landslides.
It was stated that there are problems with electricity supply to 30,000 homes and water supply to 80,000 homes across the region, and the fate of more than 240 people remains unknown.
NUMBER OF SDF PERSONNEL INCREASED
It was reported that the number of Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) personnel dispatched to the region for search and rescue operations has been increased to 4,600.
Information was shared that SDF helicopters are being used to supply essential materials.
