Death toll rises to 8 in Russia's attack on Kyiv

The death toll from Russia's overnight attacks on various regions of Ukraine has risen. As emergency teams continue search and rescue operations in the rubble of a 9-story building that was struck and completely destroyed in the capital, Kyiv, officials reported that the death toll at the scene has risen to 7. Officials also stated that with this development, the total death toll from the attack on Kyiv has risen to 8, and announced that at least 44 people have been injured.

In a statement made by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS), it was noted that many people are still missing. Accordingly, the death toll in the region is expected to rise.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the attack as one of the largest Russia has carried out against the capital and declared a one-day mourning period for tomorrow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Ukrainian army is preparing to respond to this attack by Moscow.

In another statement regarding the attack, Zelenskyy had announced that Russia used 56 missiles and more than 670 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in its overnight attacks.
