DeepSeek banned on government devices in New York state, USA
In the US state of New York, the use of the artificial intelligence model DeepSeek, developed by a China-based firm, has been banned on government-owned devices due to "security concerns."

New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced in a written statement that state government employees are prohibited from downloading the DeepSeek application onto devices and networks belonging to public institutions.
In the statement, Hochul drew attention to concerns that DeepSeek "stores user data and can capture technological secrets," stating, "My priority is public safety. We continue to work to protect New York residents from both foreign and domestic threats."
It was reported last week that members of the House of Representatives, Democrat Josh Gottheimer and Republican Darin LaHood, were preparing a bill to ban the use of DeepSeek on government-owned devices nationwide.

Supported by the High-Flyer Capital Management fund in China, DeepSeek launched its new open-source model, DeepSeek-R1, on January 20, which it developed at a lower cost and using fewer chips compared to other artificial intelligence companies.
The artificial intelligence model, which began to be used intensively worldwide in a short time, surpassed the US-based ChatGPT in app stores to become the most downloaded artificial intelligence application.
