Digital translator from THY to airports

Turkish Airlines is introducing SmartMic language translation devices at airports in Turkey and the UK to improve communication. These devices allow passengers to speak in their native language, instantly translating what is said into the staff member's native language.

The devices are equipped with seven-inch screens on both sides, allowing translations to be followed in real-time. A total of 100 devices, supporting 52 languages and 72 accents, have been introduced at Turkish Airlines' hub as well as regional airports. The company plans to introduce the technology in the United Kingdom in the near future and expand its global coverage throughout 2024.

Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said the following regarding this development: “Our goal is to connect the world and make travel accessible for everyone. We are excited to introduce this innovative SmartMic device, which allows our passengers transiting through Turkey to communicate with our staff in their own languages.

We aim to ensure that our passengers have a seamless travel experience regardless of their nationality, and we hope that the SmartMic devices will make their journeys with Turkish Airlines more enjoyable.” Turkish Airlines will launch its first flights to Australia next month. The initial service was announced for March 15 but was later postponed to the beginning of the month.
