Doctor abducted by Israel from hospital dies in prison
A Palestinian doctor abducted from Al-Shifa Hospital has died in an Israeli prison.

It has been reported that Palestinian doctor Ziyad Muhammed, who was abducted by Israeli soldiers from Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza on March 18, 2024, has died in prison.
In a statement issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, it was confirmed that Dr. Ziyad Muhammed, who was abducted from the hospital while on duty, lost his life in an Israeli prison.
The statement emphasized that targeting healthcare workers while they are performing their duties is a clear violation of international humanitarian law and all international conventions, and noted the following:
'We condemn this brutal crime committed against Palestinian medical teams. We call on all international and human rights organizations to intervene urgently to uncover the fate of dozens of Palestinian healthcare personnel who were abducted while performing their medical and humanitarian duties in hospitals in Gaza.'
The Ministry also stated, 'The continuation of these violations against healthcare workers is a situation that systematically targets the Palestinian people and their institutions. Israel must be held accountable before the international community for these crimes against medical teams and civilians,' further emphasizing that the incident is a 'clear violation of international law.'
HE WAS ARRESTED DURING ISRAEL'S HOSPITAL RAID
The Israeli army, which has been continuing its attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, raided Al-Shifa Hospital, the region's largest medical center, on March 18.
Speaking to an AA reporter, Palestinians described how people at Al-Shifa Hospital were killed or detained by Israeli forces. Muhammed was arrested by Israel during the raid without any reason provided.
In the latest statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, it was reported that at least 41,252 Palestinians, including 16,795 children and 11,378 women, have been killed and 95,497 people have been injured in the attacks carried out by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
While it is reported that there are still thousands of dead under the rubble, civilian infrastructure is also being destroyed by targeting hospitals and educational institutions where the public has taken shelter.
