Donald Trump, who was elected as the new president in the US, announced that he has nominated former Republican Senator David Perdue as the US Ambassador to Beijing. Trump made a post regarding the matter on his own social media platform, Truth Social.
Trump stated, "This evening, I am pleased to announce that former US Senator David Perdue has accepted to be nominated as the next US Ambassador to the People's Republic of China."
Emphasizing Perdue's "expertise and international career that will help improve China-US relations," Trump stated that in his new role, Perdue "will be effective in implementing the strategy to maintain peace in the region and in establishing a productive working relationship with Chinese leaders."
In another post on his social media account, Trump also announced that he has nominated National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd as the US Ambassador to Santiago.
Trump, who was elected as the 47th President of the US, pointed to "Judd's efforts to protect the country's borders and keep all Americans safe," saying, "Brandon will make our country proud."
