An ex officio investigation was launched against lawyer Feyza Altun for the crime of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility" due to a post she made on her X (Twitter) account regarding Sharia.

Feyza Altun, who was detained following a search of her home, stated while being taken for a medical check-up: "Turkey is a secular country. There is no Sharia in Turkey. Turkey has not been governed by Sharia. It will never be governed by Sharia."

Geert Wilders, the far-right politician who achieved victory in the early general elections held in the Netherlands on November 22, winning 37 seats with 23.5 percent of the vote, made a post on his social media account regarding the detention of lawyer Feyza Altun. In his one-sentence post, Wilders stated, "Feyza Altun is a hero!"
