Southern Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka provided information about the tragic event. Daka stated that Tourneau was heading to an activity near the Zambezi River.
Daka said that when the unfortunate woman was returning to the hotel with her family, they encountered a herd of elephants and stopped to watch them from up close. Stating that Tourneau fell to the ground after an elephant attacked her, Daka noted that the elderly woman was trampled under the elephant's feet and sustained injuries.
