Elon Musk clarifies his support for Trump

Elon Musk, owner of companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, and X, has denied reports that he is donating approximately 45 million dollars a month to a new political action committee called "America PAC," which supports former US President Donald Trump's presidential campaign.

In an interview with psychologist Jordan Peterson, Musk said that the media reports were not accurate.

Musk also made a statement on his social media platform X, confirming that he is donating to Trump's presidential campaign but noting that his contributions are at a "much lower level."

CLAIMS OF A 45 MILLION DOLLAR DONATION

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported last week that Musk planned to donate approximately 45 million dollars a month to America PAC, one of the pro-Trump political action committees.

Musk's humorous post regarding the WSJ report was also interpreted by his followers as a denial of the news.

FUNDING NEEDED FOR ELECTION OFFICES AND CAMPAIGN TEAMS

In the US, where the government does not provide sufficient funding for election campaigns, candidates have a significant need for financing to appear in advertisements costing millions of dollars, to travel from one end of one of the world's largest countries to the other to hold rallies, to use social media effectively, and to establish election offices and campaign teams.

Therefore, the candidate with a better-funded election campaign has the opportunity to reach more voters through more advertisements and rallies, thereby increasing their votes.
