Escalating crisis in the Middle East: Missiles from Iran to the US!
Tensions in the region have risen following retaliatory strikes by the US and Saudi Arabia against pro-Iranian groups in Iraq; oil prices have seen their largest increase in recent months.

According to statements from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), a heavy ballistic missile attack was carried out by Iran against American forces stationed in the Middle East. While it was reported that all missiles were neutralized by defense systems, Tehran stated that the area targeted in the attack was a US base in Jordan. These attacks have once again jeopardized hopes for a ceasefire, following a brief period where the parties had turned toward dialogue in recent days.
The US side responded to Iran's numerous drone (UAV) attacks on American and coalition forces in the region over the last 72 hours. In an announcement made by CENTCOM, it was stated that US and Saudi Arabian forces struck Popular Mobilization Forces targets in eastern Iraq, destroying critical points including logistics and missile launch facilities. CENTCOM issued a warning, stating, "If the Iranian military and affiliated groups do not cease their attacks, our response will be much stronger."
Statements regarding the operations also came from the Saudi Arabian side. Ministry of Defense Spokesperson Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki announced that drones directed from Iraqi territory toward oil facilities in eastern Saudi Arabia were successfully destroyed.
On the other hand, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps stated in an announcement to the Tasnim News Agency that it had targeted three oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. These attacks appear to have increased concerns in the Strait, which is of critical importance for energy transit routes.
SHARP FLUCTUATION IN ENERGY MARKETS
The resumption of clashes found a rapid echo in global markets. In particular, the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil rose by 5 percent in Asian markets to 85 dollars. Experts emphasize that this situation stems from risks in the supply chain due to instability in the Strait of Hormuz.
While tension escalates in the region, US President Donald Trump had previously announced that "very friendly negotiations" had been ongoing with Iran for some time and pointed out that mutual attacks had temporarily ceased. However, the lack of results from the negotiations and the recent attacks have shown that the process has returned to violence. It is noted that dozens of people lost their lives in the US operations that lasted 13 nights, targeting tunnels and bridges in southern Iran.
Sovereignty disputes over the Strait of Hormuz continue to be the most difficult issue to resolve at the negotiating table. The Iranian administration, however, denies that high-level talks are taking place. According to official data since the US-Israel joint "Operation Epic Fury," 624 American soldiers have been wounded in the region, and 417 of them were harmed during that operation.
These developments in the region also coincided with diplomatic activity such as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to Washington and Senatör Lindsey Graham's funeral program.
