Espionage operation in Istanbul: 5 people detained... Notable Iran detail
It has been reported that 5 suspects, alleged to have collected information on military bases and critical regions in Turkey and transferred it to Iranian intelligence, have been detained as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. It was announced that the operations were carried out in Istanbul, as well as in Antalya and Mersin.

In operations coordinated by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), it was determined that the suspects in question had committed the crime of 'military and political espionage.' The suspects were found to be linked to the intelligence units of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Investigations revealed that the suspects had collected information regarding military facilities and strategically important regions in Turkey and transmitted this data to Iranian intelligence. Furthermore, it was determined that data concerning critical points located abroad had also been transferred.
Following the detention order, 5 suspects were apprehended in the operations. As part of the investigation, evidence regarding the suspects' activities was collected. Relevant authorities are continuing their work to deepen the investigation and uncover other connections.
POSSIBILITY OF TENSION BETWEEN IRAN AND TURKEY
According to an analysis published in The National Interest magazine, it was stated that the security interests of Turkey and Israel align in many areas. The analysis suggested that while the two countries are at odds regarding Gaza, they could cooperate in their policies toward Iran.
The author of the article, Brandon J. Weichert, stated that there is no doubt that Turkey is a geostrategic rival to Iran. Weichert also drew attention to the possibility of conflict breaking out in Iraq between Turkey and Iranian-backed groups.
At a time when Turkey's operations against the YPG/PKK in Syria are intensifying, it was announced that the PKK declared a ceasefire on March 1. Despite this, Turkey's military activities against terrorist organizations in northern Syria continue. Weichert alleged that Iran is attempting to organize the PKK and other terrorist groups to attack Turkey.
FİDAN'S STATEMENTS
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan gave important messages in a statement he made last week without naming any specific country. Media outlets close to the government in Turkey interpreted Fidan's statement as a message to Iran.
Emphasizing that Turkey will continue its fight against terrorist organizations in the region, Fidan stated the following:
''If you support a group in another country and create unrest there, another country will support a group in your country and create unrest for you. Nothing can remain secret in the world anymore. What you have, others have too. If you do not want stones thrown at your window, you cannot throw stones at someone else's window.''
