EU extends sanctions on terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Qaeda for another year

The European Union (EU) has extended the duration of sanctions against the terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Qaeda, as well as individuals, groups, and entities linked to these organizations, until October 31, 2025.

In a written statement from the EU Council, it was stated that 15 individuals and 6 groups currently on the sanctions list will be affected by the decision.

The statement explained that the duration of the sanctions against the terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Qaeda and those linked to them has been extended until October 31, 2025, and included the expression, "The EU remains committed to taking action against those who threaten international peace and security by planning, financing, and executing terrorist attacks, and by spreading terrorist propaganda worldwide."

The EU's sanctions include the freezing of assets of listed individuals and entities in the 27 member states, a ban on providing them with economic resources directly or indirectly, and a travel ban to the EU for the natural persons listed.

The EU has been implementing sanctions against ISIS and Al-Qaeda and individuals, groups, and entities linked to these organizations since 2016.
