European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell shared a post on his X account regarding Smotrich's remarks that 2025 would be the "year of annexation" for the occupied West Bank.

Stating that he "unequivocally condemns" the Israeli Minister's remarks, Borrell said, "Such rhetoric undermines international law, violates the rights of Palestinians, and threatens the prospect of a two-state solution."

Smotrich had claimed yesterday, during a group meeting of his far-right Religious Zionism Party, that it was time for Israel to annex the occupied West Bank and that 2025 would be the "year of annexation" for the West Bank.
