The first reaction from the EU to the collapse of the Baath regime in Syria had come from High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Kallas had announced that she welcomed the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime and was ready to work with all constructive partners in the region.
