Kallas spoke at an international meeting held at the ministerial level in Jordan to discuss developments regarding the situation in Syria.

Stating that "the problem of our neighbors today becomes our problem tomorrow," Kallas continued her speech as follows:

"EU IS READY TO PROVIDE CONTRIBUTIONS"

"It is very important that regional actors also participate in this meeting. Syria is promising, but it is heading toward an uncertain future. Syria's new leaders must be committed to the principles of stability, sovereignty, territorial integrity, respect for minorities, the absence of any radicalization, the inclusivity of the government to be established, and accountability for crimes committed. The EU is ready to provide further contributions within this framework. However, these principles are extremely important to us."

"WE ATTACH GREAT IMPORTANCE"

Kallas stated that the approach to be adopted regarding Syria will be discussed at the EU foreign ministers' meeting to be held on December 16, adding, "We attach great importance to the reconstruction and structuring of Syria."

The EU Representative emphasized that ensuring stability in the region is in the interest of the EU as well as regional and international actors.
