European Communist Action announces its establishment in Athens

The European Communist Action, representing a new regional cooperation among communist and workers' parties in Europe, has announced its establishment.

European Communist Action announced its establishment with a meeting held in Athens on November 18.

''AIMING TO CREATE A REVOLUTIONARY FOCUS''

It was stated at the meeting that the initiative ''aims to consolidate political and ideological partnership by increasing communication among parties that act in line with the principles of Marxism-Leninism and defend the relevance of the socialist revolution, to strengthen the parties' ties within the working class and their common concrete struggles, and to create a real revolutionary focus that will energize the revolutionary struggle in Europe.''

TKP DELEGATION ALSO ATTENDED THE MEETING

It was emphasized that the highlights of the speech by TKP General Secretary Kemal Okuyan at the meeting included the ideological framework upon which the parties' joint activities are based, the contribution that the European Communist Action will make to the current political struggle, and the importance of acting with a vitality that will attract the interest of other parties and groups, workers, and intellectuals who are not part of this cooperation.

Party of Labour of Austria, Revolutionary Communist Party of France, Communist Workers' Party – for Peace and Socialism (Finland), New Communist Party of the Netherlands, Workers' Party of Ireland, Communist Party of the Workers of Spain, Communist Party of Sweden, Communist Party of Switzerland, Communist Front (Italy), Union of Communists of Ukraine, Communist Party of Greece.

The statement of solidarity with the Palestinian people, which was adopted at the meeting, will be the first public statement of the European Communist Action.
