Explosion followed by fire at Sudan's Port Sudan; airport also attacked

Explosions and fires have occurred in the city of Port Sudan, Sudan.

Violent explosions were heard in the eastern city of Port Sudan, followed by fires at the South Port.

It is estimated that the fires broke out following an attack on a fuel depot.

Humanitarian aid supplies delivered to Sudan yesterday by the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) were received at this port and are being stored there.

ATTACK ON THE AIRPORT AS WELL

According to reports in the local press, Port Sudan International Airport was also subjected to an attack.

While flights were suspended following the attack, no official statement has yet been made by Sudanese authorities.
