Explosion in the Greek capital

A bomb alert has been issued in Greece.

A bomb placed near the building of the country's main railway company, Hellenic Train, in the capital Athens has detonated.

It was reported that there were no deaths or injuries in the explosion, which occurred on the busy Syngrou Avenue in central Athens. Athens police cordoned off Syngrou Avenue and evacuated residents and tourists from the building.

Local media reported that a newspaper and a news website received an anonymous call shortly before the explosion, with the caller stating that a bomb had been placed outside the railway company's building and would detonate in approximately 40 minutes.
