Famous presenter sentenced to death in drug case
In Egypt, a death sentence has been handed down to 12 defendants, including television presenter and producer Sarah Khalifa, on charges of drug production and trafficking. The verdict against 39-year-old Khalifa, who denies the charges, has not yet been finalized.

A total of 28 defendants were tried in the case heard at the Cairo Criminal Court. The court sentenced 12 defendants to death, 9 to life imprisonment, and acquitted 7 defendants.
The case file stated that the defendants procured substances used in drug production and acted in an organized manner to produce and trade synthetic drugs.
MORE THAN 750 KILOGRAMS OF DRUGS SEIZED
It was reported that more than 750 kilograms of narcotics and raw materials used in production were seized during operations conducted as part of the investigation. Additionally, it was determined that two apartments had been converted into drug production laboratories.
In addition to drug-related charges, the defendants were also accused of possessing unlicensed weapons and ammunition.
SARAH KHALIFA DENIED THE CHARGES
Sarah Khalifa, a well-known television face in Egypt, denied the charges against her. However, based on the evidence in the file, the court sentenced Khalifa to death.
It was noted that prior to the death sentence, the court consulted Egypt's Grand Mufti, Nazir Muhammad Ayyad, for a religious opinion, which is mandatory in such cases under Egyptian law.
It was stated that the court's decision is subject to appeal and therefore the death sentence against Khalifa has not yet been finalized.
5-YEAR SENTENCE IN KIDNAPPING AND ASSAULT CASE
The court also sentenced Khalifa and some of the other defendants to 5 years in prison each in a separate case regarding the kidnapping and assault of a young man.
It was reported that, in addition to her aesthetic surgery clinic, Khalifa is also the owner of a production company operating in the field of party and event organization.
The 39-year-old presenter is known for her program "Mission Impossible," which covers security and crime issues.
DEATH PENALTY IS APPLIED IN EGYPT
In Egypt, the death penalty is applied for crimes such as premeditated murder, terrorist acts, certain rape offenses, and drug trafficking.
According to data from the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms, 541 death sentences were handed down in the country in 2025.
